Best AI visibility tracking and optimization tools in 2026

Seven tools measured on coverage, intelligence, optimization and value. We build one of them, so instead of ranking ourselves #1 we name a winner per category and tell you honestly where each competitor beats us.

Last updated: August 18, 2026

Why this list exists (and how we made it)

Every vendor in this category, including us, claims to be the best. That is not useful. What is useful: publicly verifiable pricing, engine coverage and feature lists, compared in one table. Everything below is based on public information from each vendor's website and docs as of August 18, 2026. These tools evolve quickly and inaccuracies can occur; if you spot one, let us know and we will fix it.

There is no single #1. The right tool depends on your budget, team and how many AI surfaces you care about, so we name a winner per category instead.

[1] Profound at $99/mo tracks ChatGPT only. Multi-engine starts at $399/mo, and full coverage is custom Enterprise pricing (commonly $2,000+).

[2] Semrush AI Toolkit is $99 per domain with 1 seat and 25 prompts; each extra seat or domain is $99.

Profound

The enterprise heavyweight of AI search analytics.

Profound is arguably the best-known name in enterprise AI search analytics, with strong citation analysis and a unique prompt-volume dataset. Its self-serve tiers are narrow though: $99/mo covers ChatGPT only, and broad engine coverage means Enterprise pricing that commonly runs well past $2,000/mo.

If you have an enterprise budget and want prompt volume data, Profound earns its reputation. If you want wide engine coverage plus optimization tooling at self-serve prices, that is where Diploria wins.

Who it suits

Large enterprises with dedicated AI search budgets

Cost and coverage

$99/mo (ChatGPT only; multi-engine from $399/mo, full coverage is custom Enterprise pricing). Coverage: 1 to 3 engines on self-serve plans; more on Enterprise.

Where it beats Diploria

Real-user prompt volume data. Profound licenses conversation datasets that show how often people actually ask a given prompt, which Diploria does not offer.

Peec AI

A clean, focused visibility tracker popular with European teams.

Peec AI has built a loyal following with a clean interface and straightforward share-of-voice tracking. Its entry plan is $95/mo for 50 prompts across 3 engines at a time, with unlimited team seats included, which is genuinely generous.

Where it thins out is breadth and action: no open-weight model coverage, no GA4 referral integration, and optimization features still in beta. Diploria's $29 entry plan covers all 11 surfaces and includes the optimization toolkit.

Who it suits

Teams that want a simple tracker with unlimited seats

Cost and coverage

$95/mo (3 engines at a time; wider coverage on Enterprise). Coverage: 3 engines at a time on standard plans.

Where it beats Diploria

Unlimited team seats on its entry plan. Peec includes unlimited users from day one, where Diploria's Pro plan includes 3 seats (Advanced is unlimited).

Otterly

The lightweight entry point for AI search monitoring.

Otterly.AI deserves credit for making AI search monitoring accessible: $29/mo, a friendly interface, and 50+ locations to check from. For a solo marketer who wants a lightweight monitor, it is a fine starting point.

The constraint is capacity and depth. 15 prompts consumed per engine runs out fast, Claude and Grok are not covered, and there is no optimization tooling beyond basic suggestions. Diploria at the same price is simply a bigger toolbox.

Who it suits

Solo marketers who want a simple, cheap monitor

Cost and coverage

$29/mo (15 prompts, consumed per engine). Coverage: 4 core engines.

Where it beats Diploria

Pre-configured location coverage. Otterly ships 50+ ready-made country/locale options at entry level, a genuinely quick way to run multi-country checks.

Scrunch

Customer-journey-centric AI visibility for mid-market teams.

Scrunch AI approaches the space from a customer-journey angle: which personas encounter your brand at which stage, and what the AI says at each step. It also tracks agent traffic, and its journey framing is genuinely differentiated.

The trade is price and coverage: $250/mo for what works out to roughly 31 unique prompts across 4 engines, with optimization features still in beta. Diploria delivers wider coverage and shipped optimization tooling from $29.

Who it suits

Mid-market teams that think in buyer personas and journeys

Cost and coverage

$250/mo (125 prompts consumed per engine (~31 unique across 4 engines)). Coverage: 4 engines on entry; more on Enterprise.

Where it beats Diploria

Persona and customer-journey modelling. Scrunch's framing of AI visibility around buyer journeys and personas is more developed than Diploria's intent tagging.

Semrush AI Toolkit

AI visibility bolted onto the biggest name in SEO software.

The Semrush AI Toolkit is the sensible choice for large SEO teams that already live in Semrush: one login, familiar reporting, and AI visibility data next to rank tracking. For that buyer it may be all that is needed.

As a standalone AI visibility product it is thin: $99 per domain buys 25 prompts and one seat, with each additional seat or domain another $99. Diploria's dedicated focus shows in surface coverage, prompt capacity and AI-specific optimization.

Who it suits

Large SEO teams already living inside Semrush

Cost and coverage

$99/mo per domain (1 domain, 1 seat, 25 prompts; extra seats/domains $99 each). Coverage: 5+ engines.

Where it beats Diploria

Ecosystem integration for large SEO teams. If your team already runs keyword research, backlinks and content in Semrush, having AI visibility in the same login is a real workflow win.

AthenaHQ

GEO-focused platform from a team with Google search DNA.

AthenaHQ comes at generative engine optimization with a strong pedigree and a guided approach: tracking plus prescriptive GEO recommendations. Teams that want more hand-holding around strategy will find that valuable.

It is positioned above Diploria on price, with a publicly listed starting point around $295/mo, and it does not target the agency/multi-brand use case. For self-serve breadth across all 11 surfaces at self-serve pricing, Diploria is the stronger value.

Who it suits

Teams that want managed GEO guidance alongside tracking

Cost and coverage

~$295/mo (Publicly listed starting price; confirm current tiers on their site). Coverage: Major consumer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and others).

Where it beats Diploria

Hands-on GEO strategy pedigree. AthenaHQ leans into guided, almost consultative generative engine optimization, and its founding team's search background shows in that guidance.
