Google AI Mode is Google's dedicated conversational AI search experience. It answers a query with a generated response and supports follow-up questions, going further than the AI Overview that appears above standard results. It uses query fan-out, breaking a single query into many related sub-queries run against Google's index.
For brands, AI Mode draws on the same Google index as Search, so traditional SEO foundations carry over, but its fan-out behavior means you can surface for sub-questions you never explicitly targeted. It is one of the eight surfaces Diploria tracks.
