PerplexityBot is the web crawler operated by Perplexity to index content that its answer engine can retrieve and cite. As with other AI crawlers, it consults robots.txt to determine which pages it may access.
For brands, PerplexityBot matters because Perplexity is the most citation-forward of the major AI platforms, so being crawlable by it is closely tied to being cited in its answers. The same prerequisites apply as for other AI crawlers: serve server-rendered HTML, since the crawler does not execute JavaScript, and allow the user agent in robots.txt. If both are in place, your pages are eligible to be retrieved and cited.
